YTP networking events gain momentum in Toronto with growing membership

Young Travel Professionals – Toronto Chapter (YTP-TO) launched in May 2014 with the mission of bringing together the city’s next generation of travel industry leaders. A year and a half later, Toronto’s membership has grown steadily to more than 530 members, the group has 15 successful networking events under its belt, and industry partners are increasingly interested in supporting the group.

“The goal of our organization is to help foster genuine relationships between creative, savvy and ambitious young travel professionals that go beyond the business card,” says Melissa Medeiros, Account Manager, Bannikin and YTP-TO Board Manager. “With the millennial market top of mind for travel companies, hotels and tourism boards, our partnerships with national and international brands have grown exponentially. We can help them tap into the industry’s most influential demographic, from positioning their brand front and centre to recruiting and general market insight.”

YTP-TO provides members with networking opportunities at fun socializing events around Toronto, and is completely free to join. Several popular events have already taken place this year such as networking with Free & Easy Traveler and Tourism Australia, a brew tour with Urban Adventures, and a fun evening of soaking up the sun on Toronto Island.

Upcoming events include a Halloween haunted house party sponsored by Travelweek, speed-networking in conjunction with Humber College and a pub quiz night – all with fantastic travel giveaways.

“YTP is all about establishing meaningful connections with people who are going places in our industry. We have no budget, our allegiance is to every arm of the travel industry, and our only rule is that everyone is welcome – even competitors!” says Adam Hodge, Marketing Manager, Goway and YTP Board Member.

Members also have access to a thriving online community and mentorship program, and are invited to join exclusive FAM trips and special events around the world.

Young Travel Professionals – Toronto Chapter is part of a larger global network with 11 other chapters including New York, London, Vancouver and more.  The global co-founders recognized the need for an organization catering specifically to the younger generation of travel professionals. It is now an established source for networking and career development, as well as a source of information and expertise on millennials.
