ACTA Responds to Woman's Day Article
In light of the recent Woman's Day article (http://www.womansday.com/life/travel-tips/should-i-use-a-travel-agent) portraying Travel Agents in an unflattering light, ACTA would like to reassure our members that we have taken this matter seriously and set in place a process to deal with the commentary published and titled (originally) "10 things Travel Agents Won't Tell You".
We are disappointed with the lack of research and fact finding that went into this piece of journalism. We believe that if Ms. Anne Roderique-Jones (author) had done her research on the facts, she would of came out learning that Travel Agents are the most dedicated and passionate towards their trade and the only thing an (ACTA) Travel Agent won't tell you is how hard they work.
Not only were the allegations in the story offside, but we will also reinforce that over 80% of travel agents throughout the world are members of their association and are required to abide by a strict code of ethics. So not only is this information not correct, but we're the best in the business at what we do.
We are pleased that Woman's Day has apologized for their statements and ACTA is currently in the process of contacting Woman's Day to build a positive relationship and position the Travel Agent as an expert and the travel profession as a desirable career option.
Woman's Day has stated they will highlight travel agent services in its October issue and in a story in December on WomansDay.com. This is where we hope to come out ahead.
