New Saskatchewan Insurance Bylaws Effective Jan. 1, 2020

ACTA has been in close communication since May 2018 on pending changes to the General Insurance Council of Saskatchewan Bylaws, The Insurance Act and The Insurance Regulations.  Effective January 1, 2020 the Bylaw Exam has been amended.

In addition to the Saskatchewan Travel Insurance Qualifying Exam, Saskatchewan residents must write the Travel Bylaw Exam. The Travel Bylaw Exam will primarily focus on the obligations and conduct of a licensed agent or salesperson. The Bylaw Exam is an open book exam. Candidates will be provided with a copy of the bylaws at the time of their exam.

The bylaw exam will primarily focus on the obligations and conduct of a licensed insurance agent. It consists of 40 questions including true/false, multiple choice, and matching type questions.  You must get 30 correct answers (75%) in order to pass.  ACTA administers the exams on behalf of The Insurance Council of Saskatchewan (ICS) and more details can be found at acta.ca/sk-insurance-exam-preparation.

For those travel agents currently holding The Insurance Council of Saskatchewan (ICS) licenses, no further updates are required and it remains business as usual.
