South African Airways Moves Forward with Restructuring Plans

Dear ACTA Members,

We want to provide you with an update on progress of South African Airways’ (SAA) business rescue, as we proceed with the next steps in restructuring of our route network.

Attached, please find a media statement issued today by our Business Rescue Practitioners at Matuson & Associates in South Africa with regards to targeted initiatives that have been announced to rationalize our route network, deploy economical and fuel efficient aircraft throughout our system and optimize our organizational structure.  These necessary steps are being taken to strengthen SAA’s business and insure the long-term viability of the airline.  We remain confident that the business rescue process is proceeding as planned and ultimately will enable SAA to emerge as a stronger, more competitive and financial healthier airline.

While it is unfortunate to see the reductions in our overall route network, it is encouraging that many of our long-haul international routes, included those that we operate to New York-JFK and Washington Dulles, will remain.  We hope this will provide our customers and travel partners with a higher level of confidence is selecting SAA has their carrier of choice to Africa.

A re-accommodation policy will be distributed on Friday, February 7th for those customers who are being affected by the route and flight cancellations.   Every effort will be made to accommodate them on alternate flights or arrange for a full refund.

We recognize that selling South African Airways during these uncertain times is challenging and we thank you for your continued support and dedication.  If you have any questions or we can be of assistance, please feel free to contact our Inside Sales Department at 1-(877) 722-7477, via email at: insidesales@flysaa.com or your SAA Director, Sales Development.

Best Regards,
