Myrtle Beach Businesses Ready To Welcome Back Canadians & Snowbirds As U.S./Canada Land Border Reopens

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.— On Monday, Nov. 8, 2021, at 10 a.m., the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce (MBACC) and Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) held a celebration event at their downtown Myrtle Beach Visitor Center to welcome back Canadian and Snowbird visitors.

The event was held to coincide with the reopening of the U.S./Canada land border by U.S. officials. After nearly 19 months of COVID-related travel restrictions, fully vaccinated visitors from Canada and Mexico are now allowed to enter the United States by land.

The event was promoted to Canadian media and broadcasted live on MBACC’s Facebook page. Karen Riordan, MBACC and CVB President and CEO, and Bill Golden, CEO of Golf Tourism Solutions, addressed those watching live from Canada and cut a ribbon to represent the reopening of the border.

“Let me be the first to say Myrtle Beach is ready to welcome you back to The Beach. Our businesses are eager to see you again. We currently have deals and discounts for Snowbirds featured on VisitMyrtleBeach.com,” Riordan said, further noting some of the destination’s new offerings, including several craft breweries that have recently opened and the Winter Wonderland at The Beach festival, which runs Nov. 26 – Jan. 2, 2022.

Golden added, “The golf industry here can’t wait to get our Canadian friends back in town. I can’t guarantee 80-degree weather, but I can guarantee that it’s going to be nicer here than what you’re experiencing in Canada.”

Myrtle Beach Can-Am Days will run January through April with specific events held March 12-20, 2022, during the annual Myrtle Beach Can-Am Days Festival.
