Food Packing Event for the Bahamas

Food Packing Event for the Bahamas

Hurricane Dorian made landfall as a category 5 hurricane over the northwest Bahamas on September 1, 2019. The hurricane is the strongest in the history of the Bahamas. The storm has damaged infrastructure and caused massive flooding in the areas of Abaco and Grand Bahama. Heavy rains and high winds continued into September 3, and over 76,000 Bahamians have been affected by the storm. GlobalMedic is responding.

GlobalMedic is requesting the assistance of volunteers on Friday September 13 and Saturday, September 14th to pack Emergency Food Kits for families in the Bahamas that have been affected by Hurricane Dorian. Volunteers will pack beans and rice into packs and prepare them for shipping to the Bahamas. On Friday, September 13, we will be packing food in the afternoon and will need a few volunteers in the morning to help sweep and set up. On Saturday, we will have 2 shifts for packing.

Volunteers will be provided with hair nets and gloves and will be asked to avoid wearing loose fitting clothes and jewelry. Please wear warehouse-appropriate clothing and closed toed shoes. Wear a GlobalMedic T-shirt if you have one (not mandatory). If you would like to purchase GlobalMedic apparel, please bring cash! T-shirts and hats are $20, long sleeve shirts are $30 and tubular neck scarfs (like a Buff) are $15.

If you are able to assist, please apply by clicking the buttons below and filling out the attached form. **IMPORTANT: If you are available for multiple shifts, please fill out the form for each individual shift.** PLEASE NOTE: We do have a maximum capacity for this event so it is very important for you to register through the links.
