Antigua and Barbuda Black Pineapple Awards: Be a Part of the Winners’ Circle  

The Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority will be taking 25 top selling travel advisors from Canada to the twin island destination from December 6th to 8th, 2024 for the inaugural Black Pineapple Awards. The global awards will bring together over 100 travel professionals from Antigua and Barbuda’s main source markets – the United States, United Kingdom, Europe, the Caribbean, and of course, Canada for an exclusive celebration in the stunning twin-island paradise.

The trip will see advisors wined, dined and whisked away on some exciting tours. Participants will enjoy complimentary flights, all-inclusive accommodations, and tours and excursions, in addition to the awards they will win at the glitzy Black Pineapple Awards Gala.

Tours and activities

While on island Travel advisors will have the option of attending several fun activities which are the best the islands have to offer. While the specific activities have not been finalised, event organisers have given a sneak peak of some top contenders:

Catamaran Cruise

Close your eyes and imagine the gentle waves of the Caribbean Sea lapping at the side of a luxurious sailboat. Cast off into the shimmering turquoise waters of Antigua and Barbuda, discover hidden coves, swim with vibrant fish and snorkel from the comfort of your catamaran. Whether it is an all-day booze cruise circumnavigating Antigua, a sunset sail along the breathtaking western coast, or a day trip to Barbuda’s pink sand beach complete with a barbecue and rum punches, a good time is guaranteed.

Shirley Heights Sunday BBQ Party

Shirley Heights is a restored military lookout that affords a superb view of English and Falmouth Harbours. The view is especially spectacular at sunset and early evening when all of English Harbour is all lit up. From 4pm until 10pm every Sunday, party until the sun goes down on another week with drink, a barbecue, local bands playing a mixture of Caribbean flavored music and international hits from over the decades whilst overlooking one of the most stunning views in the world. Both a favorite with the locals and tourists, this is the perfect crowd to meet new people and make friends for life.

Rum in the Ruins

This historic and archaeological tour takes place at the Dow’s Hill Fortification and Interpretation Centre within the country’s only UNESCO World Heritage Site area. Heritage expert, Dr. Christopher K. Waters, leads visitors through a fascinating presentation of daily life in the 18th century and the history of sugar and rum. The tour, of course, includes its very own twist on the classic Planter’s Punch rum cocktail for all in attendance.

Awards Criteria

Travel advisors will win prizes for in the categories: most room nights booked, greatest number of bookings made, and highest revenue generated.

Wild Card

Don’t think you will be competitive? Have no fear. The ABTA is reserving a seat for a wildcard travel advisor. Once you have booked at least one trip to Antigua and Barbuda in the last year you qualify for a chance to be randomly selected to join the traveling group. Consider it inspiration to return home and sell the destination more!

Qualifications
