The federal government currently offers temporary tariff-related special measures through the Employment Insurance Work-Sharing Program.

Extended to March 31, 2027, these measures are intended to help eligible employers experiencing temporary reductions in business activity directly or indirectly attributable to tariffs retain employees and avoid layoffs.

Eligible employers participating in Work-Sharing may also apply for the Worker Retention Grant. The grant provides additional support for participating employees who are working reduced hours while undertaking eligible training.
