Why Mentorship Matters

"Not all host agencies are created equally. Some business models are built around signing up as many agents as possible and collecting startup fees, but the real question is: what happens after you join? Before making a decision, take the time to research the support, training, mentorship, and community that will be available to help you grow your business.

Starting a travel business is an investment. Anyone can hang out a shingle and call themselves a travel advisor after signing up with an organization, but building a profitable, long-term career is another story. Many new agents leave the industry within their first year because they don't receive the support they need. In my experience, agencies that invest more in training, technology, and advisor development often provide stronger support systems. Don't choose an opportunity based solely on the lowest sign up costs—choose one that gives you the greatest chance of success."

Attracting Youth and New Talent to the Industry

"A career as a travel advisor is an excellent choice for young professionals seeking a rewarding profession where effort, dedication, and relationship-building directly impact success. Our industry continues to evolve as technology streamlines many aspects of the business, allowing advisors to work more efficiently while delivering exceptional client experiences and personalized service.

Throughout my 28 years in the travel industry, I have often found myself among the younger attendees at conferences, seminars, and training events. These days, I can no longer make that claim! As many experienced advisors begin thinking about retirement, I would love to see a new generation of passionate, entrepreneurial professionals enter the industry. The future of travel depends on fresh perspectives, new energy, and dedicated advisors who are committed to helping clients create unforgettable travel experiences for years to come."

Current Initiatives:

  • Striving for all of our agents to write their CTC exam as soon as they qualify.
  • All new to industry agents to take the ACTA training program so they understand travel 101
  • Would love to see the industry regulated with all agents having to achieve a license or certification
