See what graduates from the Certified Travel Counsellor (CTC) program have to say!:

I have been a Vacation Consultant since late 2021. To prepare for this after retirement from Canadian Pacific, I went to College in Travel and Tourism. As part of my training at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT), I began my path with ACTA to CTC Certification.

The path to CTC certification was a valuable training experience. The core components of the training and examination were all relevant to my field. I had no experience in external sales when I started the program. The training in this particular area was a great addition to my SAIT work. I am proud to have completed the process and display the CTC on my business card and email signature.

In terms of benefits, I have been fortunate to be selected to attend an ACTA / Avalon River Cruise summit. It was a great learning experience that helped to reinforce what I took in my CTC training. The CTC designation also opens up some industry perks and benefits that go beyond just cruise only benefits. The savings are not the only benefit.

By attending ACTA events and holding my CTC designation, I am learning not just about the destinations, but the people behind those destinations. The industry contacts I have developed through this association have improved the services I am able to offer.

An additional benefit is that of advocacy. While I have other bodies who may advocate on my behalf of the Cruise industry, or US Tourism, ACTA is focused on all things travel and is Canadian focused. The CTC and CTM designations are the top level certifications for travel operations in Canada. While I am just an individual voice, ACTA speaks for us as a group when dealing with the Government.

My CTC certification has both given me more confidence and provided industry recognition as I do my job on a day to day basis. I have had a few people comment when they see the CTC next to my name. They recognize the effort involved, and I believe that helps to establish my credentials as a consultant.

For all of these reasons, this is why I think the CTC program, has been a great benefit to my consultant career
