Dear ACTA Members,

We wish to inform you that Canada has just updated its Travel Advice and Advisories for Cuba to a single country-wide risk level of “Exercise a high degree of caution” (L2). This change removes the previous Level 1 (“Exercise normal security precautions”) regional risk level carved‑out for the Archipelago of Jardines del Rey and designated resort areas. The updated travel advice reflects the realities currently affecting Canadian travellers across the country, including resort destinations that are increasingly impacted by widespread shortages and prolonged power outages.

Travel Advice and Advisories pages now include colour-coded maps illustrating risk levels to improve accessibility for those who find visuals easier to understand and interpret than text.

Please share this updated travel information with your Canadian clients. Helping ensure they are aware of the risks and stay informed through our Travel Advice and Advisories is key to their safety and preparedness.  Please remind them of signing up for the free Registration of Canadians abroad service to receive the latest updates. This is particularly important as conditions can change quickly.  We have also attached a bilingual summary document to support you.

We appreciate your assistance and commitment to keeping Canadians safe. As the situation evolves, the Global Affairs Team wishes to stay in close contact. Please do not hesitate to contact the Global Affairs Team, should you require additional information or have more information to share with them at [email protected].
