Official Rules and Terms & Conditions 

1. Sponsor 

The ACTA Referral Program Contest (the “Contest”) is sponsored by the Association of Canadian Travel Agencies and Travel Advisors (“ACTA”) (the “Sponsor”). 

2. Contest Period 

The Contest begins on January 20, 2026 at 12:00 a.m. Eastern Time (ET) and ends on August 31, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. ET (the “Contest Period”). 

3. Eligibility 

The Contest is open to individuals who: 

    • Are legal residents of Canada; and 

    • Have reached the age of majority in their province or territory of residence at the time of entry. 

Employees, officers, directors, and agents of ACTA, its affiliates, partners, prize suppliers, and their immediate family members or household members are not eligible to participate. 

4. How to Earn Ballots (Entries) 

Eligible participants may earn ballots toward the Grand Prize Draw during the Contest Period through any of the following methods: 

a) ACTA Membership (2026) 

  • One (1) ballot for each new ACTA membership or membership renewal for 2026. 

  • Membership renewals completed on or after September 1, 2025 will be counted retroactively. 

b) Referral – ACTA Membership 

    • Three (3) ballots for each successful referral of a travel advisor or travel agency that results in a new ACTA membership. 

    • The referred member must clearly identify the referrer on the application form. 

c) CTC / CTM Certification 

    • One (1) ballot for enrolling in, completing, or renewing a Certified Travel Counsellor (CTC) or Certified Travel Manager (CTM) designation. 

d) Referral – CTC / CTM Certification 

    • Three (3) ballots for each successful referral of a colleague who enrolls in a CTC or CTM certification program. 

e) No Purchase Necessary (NPN) Entry 

No purchase is necessary to enter the Contest. Details are outlined in Section 5 below.

There is no limit to the total number of ballots a participant may earn, except where otherwise stated. 

5. No Purchase Necessary (NPN) Entry Method 

Eligible individuals may enter the Contest without making a purchase by submitting a No Purchase Necessary (“NPN”) entry, as follows: 

    • Submit an original essay of a minimum of 500 words answering the question: 
      “What makes a travel advisor so important in today’s travel landscape?” 

NPN Submission Requirements 

The essay must: 

    • Be original and written solely by the entrant, AI-generated versions will not be accepted; 

    • Be written in English and/or French; 

    • Not have been previously published or submitted to another contest; 

    • Be submitted during the Contest Period. 

Each NPN submission must include the entrant’s: 

    • Full name 

    • Agency name 

    • Email address 

    • Province or territory of residence 

    • Confirmation of eligibility 

Eligible essays submitted to [email protected] will receive one (1) ballot. 

NPN Ballots 

    • Each eligible NPN submission will receive one (1) ballot toward the Grand Prize Draw. 

    • Limit one (1) NPN entry per person during the Contest Period. 

ACTA reserves the right to disqualify any NPN entry that does not meet the requirements or contains inappropriate, offensive, or defamatory content. 

6. Prize 

One (1) Grand Prize will be awarded: 

    • One complimentary cabin (1x FOC) on the South Georgia, Falklands and Antarctica expedition aboard the Sylvia Earle, 

    • Approximate retail value: $45,000 CAD per person, based on a Balcony Stateroom B. 

The prize: 

    • Must be accepted as awarded; 

    • Is non-transferable, non-refundable, and not redeemable for cash; 

    • Does not include airfare, travel insurance, taxes, fees, gratuities, documentation, onboard expenses, or any other costs not expressly stated, all of which are the responsibility of the winner. 

7. Draw and Winner Selection 

The Grand Prize winner will be selected by random draw from all eligible ballots after the Contest Period ends. 

The selected entrant will be contacted using the contact information provided. To be declared a winner, the selected entrant must: 

    • Correctly answer a mathematical skill-testing question without assistance; and 

    • Sign and return any required declaration and release forms within the timeframe specified by ACTA. 

If a selected entrant cannot be contacted, fails to meet eligibility requirements, or does not comply with these Rules, ACTA reserves the right to select an alternate winner. 

8. Odds of Winning 

Odds of winning depend on the total number of eligible ballots earned during the Contest Period. 

9. General Conditions 

ACTA reserves the right to: 

    • Verify eligibility and compliance with these Rules; 

    • Disqualify any participant found tampering with the Contest or violating these Rules; 

    • Cancel, suspend, or modify the Contest, subject to applicable laws, if circumstances beyond its control compromise the integrity of the Contest. 

By participating, entrants agree to be bound by these Official Rules and the decisions of ACTA, which are final and binding. 

10. Privacy 

Personal information collected will be used solely for the administration of the Contest and in accordance with ACTA’s privacy policy. English French 

11. Governing Law 

The Contest is governed by the laws of Ontario. 

Quebec Residents – Additional Terms and Conditions 

The following provisions apply only to residents of the Province of Quebec and prevail in the event of any conflict with the foregoing Rules. 

  1. Language 
    Quebec residents expressly agree that the Contest is conducted in English or French and that all related documents and communications shall be drafted in English or French. 

  1. Skill-Testing Question 
    To be declared a winner, a Quebec resident must correctly answer a mathematical skill-testing question without assistance. 

  1. Prize Conditions 
    The prize must be accepted as awarded and is non-transferable, non-refundable, and not exchangeable for cash. 

  1. Publicity
    By accepting the prize, the winner consents to the use of their name, city of residence, photograph, and/or likeness for promotional purposes by ACTA, without further compensation, except where prohibited by law. 

  2. Contest Modification 
    ACTA reserves the right, subject to Quebec law, to cancel, modify, or suspend the Contest if required. 

  3. Liability 
    ACTA shall not be responsible for any loss, damage, or injury arising from participation in the Contest or acceptance of the prize, except as required by Quebec law.
