I learned of the Certified Travel Counsellor (CTC) designation a few years after starting with my host agency as an independent travel counsellor. I reached out to the staff at ACTA to see how I could obtain the certification.

The process to accredit wasn’t too onerous. There were obvious things I needed to do and provide. I’m thankful that the process was clearly laid out and well thought through from the moment I spoke with staff.

In the midst of getting all my prerequisites in order, the certification staff at ACTA were helpful! I had many questions, and they had the answers…

The CTC designation opens doors and definitely raises the awareness and standards I will give to my clients. It also sets you separately, in a good way, compared to those without. I’ll be honest, CTC is an added level of professionalism which means I care, but I also know what’s going on in the industry. You should accredit as well!
