David McCaig speaks to insurance professionals on Travel Health Insurance
David McCaig, President and COO of the Association of Canadian Travel Agencies spoke recently at The annual AGM held by the Travel Health Insurance Association on September 17, 2012 at the Angus Glen Golf and Country Club.
Speaking to a full room of insurance professionals David began with an anecdote about the title of his speech "50 Shades of Travel Health Insurance".
"The title of this speech stirred quite a response." stated David to smiles and excitment, "Some of our members were insulted that ACTA would associate our brand with an innuendo, while others like myself, thought we could have some fun with it..."
When the fun and laughter subsided David quickly brought things back to business by setting the record straight, "when I refer to 50 shades of Travel Health Insurance, I’m referring to the different levels, regulations and variations of travel health insurance requirements across the country; and the problems and confusion it creates."
David went on to share how the regulated and unregulated provinces manage the sale of travel health insurance and the confusion that it creates for insurance brokers, travel agents and travelling consumers. David also touched on the topic of education and the importance to understand the different coverage that is available and the needs of the new "sophisticated traveller". Stats and examples of past claims were also provided during this speak.
