Meeting of Minds

Greetings ACTA members,

The National Board of Directors of the Association of Canadian Travel Agencies (ACTA) met in Vancouver this March to discuss the state of the industry and the role that the association plays for the retail community. The board is composed of outstanding members of Canada’s travel industry and there is always progress made when we have the opportunity to meet as a team. This board is one of the most knowledgeable boards in Canada where each member has enviable experience in guiding their companies through years in this dynamic economic sector and beyond.

Some of the highlights of our meeting was preparing for the AGM in May where we will introduce new Bylaws which adress the involvement of our new certified members. Also shared during the board meeting were regional reports by the provincial chairs. All report strong sales and positive trends. We all think our winter had something to do with it...Our strategic plan, education and upcoming events was also on the agenda. Lots is in the work for the upcoming months and I can't wait to share all the goodies with you all when we get closer to time. This month you can expect the launch of our new marketing toolkit.

Not only does our board have a core of veterans, it has added members in the past several years from the top levels of the industry and its agency segment that I know have the priviledge to call my friends. In my opinion the makeup of our current national board is one of the key reasons why travel agency heads across the country should join ACTA and support the work inspired and directed by these stellar board members.Board members in many cases serve as Chairs of ACTA Regional Councils in their regions which are: B.C. and Yukon, Alberta and NWT, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Nunavut, Ontario, Quebec and Atlantic. ACTA members can run for places on regional councils each year.
