MB and SK ACTA Council Update
The MB and SK Councils met in October and discussed the following:
- Advocacy Issues – most importantly, the status of consumer protection initiatives that would elevate professionalism in the industry
- Public relations initiatives to promote the value of working with a travel agent. The MB Council was impressed by a presentation by The Winnipeg Free Press outlining digital marketing options now available.
- Education – reports on the recent ACTA presentations to the current classes in the two schools in the region, as well as the renewed interest in certification since CITC’s integration with ACTA
- Member Support – potential future events that would allow for networking and information sharing by local region members. Watch for surveys so that you can weigh in on what type of events would interest you.
Thanks to the members who volunteer their time to serve on local Councils to ensure that grassroots interests are represented in ACTA
If you are an ACTA member in MB or SK and have issues that you would like raised with your region Council, please contact Shelley Morris at shelley.morris@mts.net and she will ensure that it is included on the agenda for the first meetings in 2015.
