Halifax Stanfield Lands Global Award for Airport Marketing

Halifax Stanfield International Airport has received a World Routes Marketing Award. The announcement was made this week at the World Routes Conference in Durban, South Africa.

The World Routes Marketing Awards recognize excellence in airport marketing in four categories based on size. The winners are determined exclusively by the airline community, giving them the chance to have their say as to which airport they think provides the best overall marketing services to them.

Halifax Stanfield was honoured in the Under 4 Million Passengers category, shortlisted as the only airport in North America in the category against Lodz (Poland), Shannon (Ireland), Cork (Ireland), and Verona (Italy).

"We are all very proud of our Air Service Marketing & Development team," says Joyce Carter, HIAA President & CEO. "Their tireless efforts, working with airlines, government agencies, and industry partners to promote Halifax and our region, are appreciated and now are deservedly recognized globally with this prestigious award."

On-hand to accept the award was Jerry Staples, HIAA Vice President, Air Service Marketing & Development, along with Richard Garson, HIAA Air Service Manager. "This is a very special award for us because it's a testament to the collaborative approach we take with our airline partners and it shows that we are out there striving to do the very best for our community," says Staples. "I want to acknowledge and thank our dedicated air service team of Richard Garson, Andy Lyall, Nicole Scaplen and Marlene More – each of them has contributed tremendously to our success and shares in this achievement. And I want to extend our appreciation to a strong group of partners who have supported us in our marketing initiatives, including Rapport Communications, InterVISTAS, Halifax Gateway Council, Destination Halifax, Nova Scotia Business Inc., Tourism Nova Scotia, and Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency."

Halifax Stanfield International Airport air service highlights in 2015 include WestJet's new non-stop trans-Atlantic service to Glasgow; establishment of a regional hub by WestJet Encore with new service to Deer Lake, Gander, and Sydney, and expanded service to Ottawa and St. John's; launch of Air Canada Rouge to Calgary; Europe Airpost to Dublin and Paris; and additional capacity to Newark by United Airlines and London-Gatwick by Air Transat; as well as Altitudes East, HIAA's bi-annual air access forum.
