HOPE Air, The gift of flights
Dear ACTA Members,
We don’t often think of a flight as a lifeline, but for so many across Canada, a plane ride is their connection to the medical care that gives them hope. Over the 30+ year history of Hope Air, we have arranged more than 113,000 free flights for low-income Canadians travelling to vital hospital and specialist appointments far from home. In 2016, Hope Air arranged 11,488 flights – the most ever arranged in a single calendar year.
One flight is so much more than a means of travel for our Clients and their families – a flight helps a Client reach the treatment, follow-up, and diagnostic appointments that are critical to their well-being and health.
Our Request
At this time, we are hopeful that ACTA’s membership will support four unique golf tournaments run by NAV CANADA employees in Gander, Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver. Each tournament raises funds locally and the funds raised are matched by NAV CANADA head office. Since 2013, these tournaments have raised more than $600,000 for Hope Air.
Each of these tournaments has a raffle and/or auction and Hope Air supports these activities through the provision of items which can be raffled or auctioned.
We respectfully request ACTA’s members to consider donating the following for each of the tournaments:
A unique travel experience, such as an all-inclusive vacation package for two, or
Two round-trip airline tickets to locations outside of North America.
Each tournament is attended by NAV CANADA employees, and representatives from across the travel industry (airline representatives, hotels, pilots, etc.). Approximately, 200 individuals attend the golf day and evening events for each tournament.
Gander FIR Charity Golf Tournament
Gander is the newest tournament supporting Hope Air; in their inaugural year, 2016, they raised more than $66,000 total (including the matching donation).
This year’s tournament is taking place on Friday, June 2nd at the Gander Golf Club and it will be followed by a concert with local Newfoundland and Labrador musicians.
An all-inclusive package or round-trip tickets from either Gander or St. John’s would be most welcome.
Toronto Air Traffic Control (ATC) Golf Tournament
Toronto’s tournament has been supporting Hope Air since 2013. Last year their tournament raised almost $70,000.
This year’s tournament is taking place on Thursday, June 15th at Whirlpool Golf Course in Niagara Falls with dinner to follow at Hilton Niagara Falls/Fallsview Hotel & Suites. You can learn more about this tournament at www.yyzgolf.ca.
An all-inclusive package or round-trip tickets from Toronto would be most welcome.
Montreal FIR Charity Golf Tournament
This tournament has supported Hope Air since 2015 and last year they raised almost $40,000 for our flights programming.
This year’s tournament is tentatively scheduled for Thursday, September 7th at the Falcon Golf Club in Hudson, QC. It will be followed by a cocktail party at the club. (Date will be finalized shortly.)
This year’s theme is tropical; an all-inclusive package from Montreal to somewhere tropical would be appreciated.
Vancouver FIR Charity Golf Tournament
This tournament started supporting Hope Air in 2014 and last year they raised $80,000.
This year’s tournament is tentatively scheduled for Monday, September 17th at Northview Golf Course in Surrey; it will be followed by a dinner. (Date will be finalized shortly.)
An all-inclusive package or round-trip tickets from Vancouver would be most welcome.
