What's going on at CTA

Air passenger rights videos
CTA is currently in the process of creating air passenger rights videos. The videos will be consumer-oriented with the objectives of increasing air passengers' awareness of their rights and responsibilities and their knowledge of the recourses available to them.

Based on public inquiries and statistics on facilitated air complaints, the CTA has determined common areas of concern on certain air-related issues and they will focus on ticketing issues, baggage limits and check-in deadlines, and bumping, delays and cancellations.

The CTA is aiming to have one of the videos ready by March 12 to tie in to World Consumer Day, which is March 15. The remaining videos should be completed by the end of March.  ACTA will continue to collaborate with CTA on outreach as we have always done in the past. The videos will be available through ACTA and we will link you to them.

Interline baggage rules
As you might remember, last April ACTA helped promote CTA's new interline baggage rules approach for air carriers. To summarize, these rules are effective when participating in an interline itinerary issued on a single ticket, where the origin or ultimate destination is a point in Canada. This approach requires that:

•a single set of baggage rules be applied to the entire itinerary; and,
•the baggage rules be disclosed to the passenger.

As the implementation date of April 15 is slowly approaching, We wanted to advise you that we will be helping CTA disseminate the message to our members. .
