Here are a few key points:
- In order for a travel licensee to be eligible to make a claim with the Travel Assurance Fund, the agent or wholesaler must have suffered a loss (other than the loss of commission) by either reimbursing a consumer or by arranging for alternate travel services at their own expense.
- The Fund will only cover the original cost of the travel services purchased, but not provided (to a maximum of $5,000 per consumer).
- All claims to the Fund must be filed within six months from the date of the loss.
