Airports taxes and fees. Will vow to cut taxes across the border spur similar change here?

During the Canadian Transportation Agency's review, ACTA's submission cited tourism as an economic driver and that according to the World Economic Forum’s Travel & Tourism Competitiveness Report, Canada ranked at the top out of 140 countries for its air transport infrastructure but ranked 136 for its ticket taxes and airport charges. Are government taxes and fees holding us back from joining the big leagues? With a ranking that dismal, it’s no wonder that millions of Canadians a year choose to save money by flying out of U.S. border airports. According to a recent study by the Conference Board of Canada, the reason is cost, pure and simple. In a recent article Air Canada CEO, Colin Rovinescu said he hopes President Donald Trump's promise to U.S. airline executives to cut taxes will spur similar action on this side of the border.
