Great Canadian Travel Company wins the Ches Chard Award

The Great Canadian Travel Company was founded in 1981 and has operated as both a retail travel agency and a wholesale agency with a clientele spread across North America, Europe and even Australia.  In 2014  the company decided as a team to elevate the professional stature of the company with each staff member completing the Certified Travel Counsellor program and all receiving their certification.  As an ACTA member for over 30 years, The Great Canadian Travel Company has grown from a small local tour operator, with operations into Churchill, Manitoba to view polar bears, to a retail travel agency in Winnipeg, booking outbound travel, and today also operates as a wholesale agency with a network of travel agent partners across the globe, specializing in Arctic travel.

The staff have been hired as professionals and trained to specialize in the niche programs the company offers. The decision to certify all staff with the CTC designation was an initiative to reinforce that their agents are all professionals, fully trained and capable of handling anyone’s travel plans. The Great Canadian Travel Company stands proud to say that their entire staff are now Certified Travel Counsellors. This is an accomplishment that they deserve to be recognized for and to encourage other companies to follow suit. The travel industry is an industry filled with professionals and they all deserve the right to be viewed and treated as professionals by both other businesses and consumers.   Accepting the award on behalf of the entire team at the Great Canadian Travel Company is the President and Owner Ian Kalinowsky.
