ONTARIO: MICHAEL FOSTER

Mike studied Travel & Tourism at Fanshawe College in London, Ontario and upon graduation worked at a successful agency for almost 2 years. In 1981 and at the age of 21, two local business people approached Mike with an opportunity to open a UNIGLOBE travel agency, a pioneer in travel agency franchising. With an outstanding team of dedicated travel professionals, the agency grew into a very successful business in both the UNIGLOBE system and the Canadian travel industry.

On February 1st, 2013 Mike sold a majority stake in the business to Travel Leaders Group (one of the world’s largest travel agency organizations), and rebranded the company as Nexion Canada, ULC and focused the business entirely on serving and supporting Independent Contractors across Canada.

It has been four years now and although Mike has much that he wants to do with Nexion still, he now has the next generation of Fosters in the company as his 22 year old son Alex started to work in the company, learning the industry as he did, as a travel agent.

Throughout Mike’s career, he has also given back to the industry. He has been an instructor at Fanshawe College and still serves as a member of Fanshawe’s advisory committee. He has been a council and board member with ACTA for many years and he currently sits on the TICO Board of Directors.

Mike welcomes the opportunity to continue his participation on the ACTA Board of Directors for the 2017-2018 term.
