ABOUT ACTA's LEADERSHIP TEAM


dmDavid McCaig, President and COO oversees the largest travel agency association in Canada. David has been in the travel industry since 1983 and carries a wealth of out-bound retail, wholesale and in-bound tour operator experience. During David’s years as the Canadian Sales Manager for Travel Trust International (TTI) and TravelPlus he had the honour of working with many of the ACTA Executive Directors throughout Canada and travelled extensively for TTI /TravelPlus, collaborating with travel agencies and suppliers.

David joined ACTA in 2001 as the Regional Manager of ACTA British Columbia and Yukon. David was quickly promoted to the position of Vice President and General Manager for Canada in 2003 where he became responsible for the revenue side of the association, including Membership, the IATA ID Card Program and Partnership Programs.

2008 saw David become the President and COO of ACTA and take on all responsibility related to leadership, strategy, finance, membership, lobby and advocacy for ACTA’s 2,000 members. Today, David continues to lead a team of Directors, Regional Managers, and support staff from across Canada, and reports to a 13 Member Board of Directors.

hcpHeather Craig Peddie, Vice President began her career in the travel industry in 1997 as Membership Manager at the Canadian Institute of Travel Counsellors (CITC). Two years later Heather joined ACTA with the responsibility of managing the largest region - Ontario. Heather served as ACTA Ontario’s Executive Director until it surrendered its Charter and all regions amalgamated into ACTA National. Aside from the position of ACTA Ontario Regional Manager, Heather took on additional leadership roles over the years including the launch of the ACTA ID Card program in 2007. In January 2009, Heather assumed the role of Director of Operations where she is directly involved in every department of the organization including HR, Communication, Education, Financial and Government.

mpChristine Chilton CTM, Director of Education joined the team at ACTA following the acquisition of CITC. Christine has been in the travel industry for over 25 years beginning her career as a Travel Counsellor and was quickly promoted to Travel Manager. Christine is a seasoned trainer/educator who taught Travel and Tourism in the private sector for 4 years before joining Thomas Cook in the role of a business Development Manager. While at Thomas Cook Christine moved back into her passion of training and education where she became the National Training Manager for Canada. Today Christine leads the educational division of the Association overseeing all activities related to certification and education for the Canadian Travel Industry. Christine is the resident CTM at ACTA.

mpMarco Pozzobon, Director of Digital and Communications joined ACTA in 2012 bringing over 15 years of travel media communications and marketing experience with an entrepreneurial skillset that includes online media, e-learning, and database management. Marco is accountable for the communications with ACTA members, partners and travel trade media. Marco also takes on the responsibility of the association’s digital landscape including database, website, and advertising.

Collectively ACTA's leadership/management team has over 80 years of travel industry experience and plays a role in the strategy and direction of the association. We are committed to working in the best interest of the Canadian travel trade.
