ACTA on Fraud

  • ACTA currently maintains a list of fraud tips and sends out member advisories whenever we are aware of instances of fraud. ACTA will continue to inform members about potential and actual fraud incidences and educate members about the potential for fraud. Through our partnership with Perseuss, a web-based community where agencies can come together and share and learn from each other’s fraud experiences, we offer training in recognizing and preventing fraud
  • Members were informed of “phishing” attempts requesting access to system credentials on Amadeus Direct. These attempts include emails that appear as if they are from Amadeus with links to a fake Amadeus Direct registration website. Amadeus will never ask you to provide this kind of confidential information.
  • Recently we let members know about an “organization” that claimed to help youth around the world and wanted to set-up a corporate travel account within the city in ON. They stated they booked $750,000 a year in travel. They also mentioned that for payment each traveller submits expense for re-imbursement after a trip is booked. Following our investigation we found the company website was registered in Utah one week prior to their attempt to setup a corporate account.
